USB-C doesn’t have anything to do with charging speed… because the iPhone already has fast charging. Lightening was updated several years ago (iPhone 8) to support it. That’s why there are two versions of those cables cables.
For those of us with an iPad and MacBook… trust me, one cable instead of two is something we’ve all wanted for years. Glad the EU forced Apple’s hand to make the change.
